Best cheap TV deals for June 2022

With CES 2022 having wrapped earlier this year, the future looks bright for those who are looking to nab a great TV at a substantial discount. Many manufacturers — including LG and Samsung — announced new versions of some of their most popular models during the event, ranging from The Frame and LG’s new C2 lineup to Sony’s forthcoming QD-OLED models. And now that manufacturers like Samsung and LG have announced official pricing details and are starting to launch their new TVs, we’re noticing prices beginning to fall on the last-gen, 2021 models.

However, if you’re looking to pick up a solid deal before the new models arrive, fret not, as there are already some great discounts available. There are currently a number of discounted 4K TVs to choose from, spanning a wide variety of prices, size configurations, and feature sets. Whether you want a secondary TV for the bedroom or a high-end OLED that’s built for a cinema-like experience, we’ve picked out the best TV deals across four common categories.

The best 4K TV deals for most people

Sony X80J

Sony’s 55-inch X80J TV has Google TV software built-in, so you won’t need to purchase any additional streaming boxes, like an Apple TV or Chromecast. The LED panel also supports HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision HDR, and has four HDMI ports (one of which is HDMI ARC). It’s a relatively low-frills affair, but it seems like a good deal that’s currently available at Walmart, where you can buy the 55-inch model for $498 instead of $799.99.

TCL 6-Series

The TCL 6-Series R635 model is a good option if you are looking to balance price and performance. The last-gen Roku model sports a QLED panel, but it goes a step above with Mini LED backlighting, which brings better brightness and contrast. The 55-inch model is currently on sale for around $748 ($200 off) at Walmart, Amazon, and Best Buy, though, we’ve seen it drop to as low as $650 in the past. The latter two retailers are also taking $500 off of the 75-inch model, selling it instead for around $2,000 (Amazon, Best Buy).

If you prefer the newer 6-Series — which supports HDR10+ and 4K gaming at 120Hz, as well as hands-free Google Assistant voice commands — the 55-inch configuration is currently available at Best Buy for $699.99, a cool $50 off the typical list price. The 65-inch model is also on sale at Best Buy and Amazon for $999.99 ($100 off), which remains the best price we’ve seen to date on the larger configuration. Read our review.

TCL 6-Series R635 (55-inch)

Part of TCL’s 6-Series line, which features 4K HDR, Mini LED backlighting, and four HDMI ports. Unlike the more recent model, the R635 runs on Roku’s TV platform and lacks some of the more recent upgrades, including support for 4K gaming at 120Hz.

TCL 6-Series R646 (55-inch)

The 2022 R646 is the latest model in TCL’s 6-Series line. The TV features 4K HDR and Mini LED backlighting, along with support for HDR10+ and 4K gaming at 120Hz. More importantly, it runs on Google TV software, unlike the last-gen model.

TCL 5-Series (Google TV model)

While the 5-Series sits below the 6-Series in TCL’s lineup, it’s also worth taking a look at if you’re on the hunt for a larger display. The latest model sports a QLED panel like the newest 6-Series, though, it lacks Mini LED backlighting and is limited to 120Hz at 1440p, whereas the 6-Series is capable of 4K at 120Hz. The newer model also uses Google TV software as opposed to the Roku software featured on the last-gen 5-Series, which allows it to provide personalized recommendations and access to thousands of streaming apps. It’s a good buy if you want a QLED TV with vibrant colors and good contrast, but don’t want to pay the premium for the latest 6-Series.

Normally $1,299.99, Best Buy and Amazon are currently selling the massive, 75-inch model for just $899.99, an all-time low. You can also save $100 on the 55- and 65-inch models, which are on sale for $449.99 (Amazon, Best Buy) and $599.99 (Amazon, Best Buy), respectively.

TCL 5-Series S546 (55-inch)

TCL’s 5-Series S546 sports a brilliant QLED panel, supports a variable refresh rate, and uses the Google TV platform. It’s also equipped with support for Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision, and HDR10+, much like the latest 6-Series.

Insignia’s 4K HDR Fire TV Edition

You don’t have to spend a fortune for a 4K TV; spending $500 or less can still net you a 4K TV with good image quality and features. Insignia’s F30 Series Fire TV is the perfect case in point, one that supports HDR10, HDMI ARC, and HDMI eARC, among other features.

At the moment, you can buy the 65-inch version of the 4K smart TV at Best Buy or Amazon (via the Best Buy storefront) for $419.99, which is a $150 discount. If you prefer a smaller TV, you can also get the 50-inch model for $289.99 ($100 off) on Amazon, or the 55-inch configuration for $309.99 ($140 off) at either Amazon or Best Buy.

Insignia F30 Series Fire TV (55-inch)

This 2020 model of Insignia’s Fire TV Edition 4K TV includes HDR10 for a more contrast-rich picture. It has three HDMI ports, too, with support for HDMI ARC and eARC, allowing you to send sound through an HDMI cable instead of audio cables.

Toshiba Smart Fire TV Edition

Another Fire TV Edition TV deal happening now is on Toshiba’s 55-inch C350 Series Fire TV, which normally retails for $469.99. As the name might imply, the 4K LED TV allows you to stream content from services such as Disney Plus and Netflix, and includes the option to watch live TV. The latest models also tout an Alexa-enabled remote, an easy-to-use interface, and support for both Dolby Vision HDR and HDR10. Right now, Best Buy and Amazon (by way of Best Buy) are selling the 55-inch for $339.99. Other configurations are also on sale, including the 75-inch model, which is selling for $699.99 instead of $899.99 (Amazon, Best Buy), and the 65-inch model, which is on sale for $449.99 (Amazon, Best Buy).

Toshiba C350 Series Fire TV (55-inch)

An affordable, 4K LED TV with built-in Fire TV tech. This model sticks out from the bunch of other Fire TV Edition models with support for Dolby Vision HDR and HDR10.

Amazon’s Fire TV Omni might suffer from so-so image quality, but the rock-bottom pricing is hard to beat.

Amazon Omni Fire TV

Amazon’s first TV, the Omni Fire 4K TV, launched in November and starts at $370. The self-branded effort features the ability to query Alexa even when the TV is off, as well as a low input lag and support for two-way video calling. We gave it a 7 out of 10 in our review, while noting how the TV shows great promise thanks to its robust Alexa integration and support for Apple’s AirPlay 2, among other things. At the same time, however, TCL and other similarly priced television makers offer better picture quality.

We’ve recently seen the 55-inch drop to as low as $369.99, which is the TV’s current price on Amazon. However, the 65-inch model — which also offers support for Dolby Vision HDR — is also on sale for its best price to date at Amazon, where you can pick it up for $499.99 instead of $829.99. Other sizes are discounted as well, including the larger 75-inch, which is now going for $749.99 instead of $1,099.99.

Amazon Omni Fire TV (55-inch)

Amazon’s new Omni Fire 4K TV features built-in microphones for Alexa commands, low input lag, and support for two-way video calling. It also provides access to Netflix, Prime Video, Disney Plus, and most major streaming services.

Vizio M7-Series Premium Quantum

If you’re looking for a budget-friendly TV with good picture quality, Vizio’s midrange M7-Series Quantum TV is worthy of consideration. The 2021 model sports a 60Hz panel, along with support for Apple’s AirPlay 2, AMD FreeSync, and a variable refresh rate (VRR). It also touts Vizio’s SmartCast system and a built-in Chromecast, allowing you to cast content from your phone and access Netflix, Disney Plus, and all your favorite streaming services.

Right now, Amazon and Best Buy are selling the 55-inch model for around $549, which is about a $200 discount. The larger, 70-inch model is also heavily discounted to $799.99 at Best Buy and Target, which is about $300 off the TV’s initial list price.

Vizio M7-Series Premium Quantum TV (55-inch)

Vizio’s newest M7-Series Quantum TV sports a 60Hz panel, along with native FreeSync support, a variable refresh rate (VRR), and a built-in Chromecast for accessing all of your favorite apps.

The best deals on OLED TVs

OLED televisions offer the best image quality you can get in a mainstream TV, and many were heavily discounted during Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and the Super Bowl. If you missed out on those sales, however, you may still have another shot at landing a good deal, as many of the best models are still currently available at a discount.

LG A1 OLED

Right now, multiple retailers are discounting various sizes of the LG’s entry-level A1 OLED. The 55-inch is on sale for $869.99 ($431 off) at Amazon, which is the lowest price we’ve ever seen on the budget-friendly OLED to date. The retailer is also throwing a $50 Amazon credit through July 4th when you enter promo code LGOLED55A1 at checkout.

If you’d like a larger display, Costco is offering members $400 off the 65-inch configuration through June 26th, dropping the final price to $999.97. Costco’s current promotion also nets you a three-year extended warranty through Allstate and a $100 streaming credit good toward Showtime, Paramount Plus, and a handful of other streaming services.

In terms of features, the A1 offers support for both Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, as well as an automatic low-latency mode. Unlike more expensive OLEDs, however, the 4K TV doesn’t come with a slate of advanced gaming features, like those found on LG’s C1 model. It offers a slower 60Hz display and lacks HDMI 2.1, for example, and doesn’t support a variable refresh rate.

LG A1 OLED (55-inch)

LG’s entry-level OLED TV, the A1, has an auto low-latency mode and offers support for both Alexa and Google Assistant. Unlike pricier OLEDs, however, it lacks a fast refresh rate.

Vizio H1 OLED

Previously a Best Buy-exclusive, Vizio’s debut H1 OLED is now available through multiple retailers, including Amazon. Its specs fall more in line with the LG C1 listed below, with its HDMI 2.1 ports and 120Hz refresh rate support, but some problems remain with this model that Vizio hasn’t fixed since its 2021 debut. It currently has issues with accurately displaying HDR10 content, for instance, and its variable refresh rate mode may not work reliably in some instances, according to reviews site Rtings.com. Enthusiasts probably shouldn’t consider this model, but its issues aren’t deal-breakers if you’re hunting for a low-cost OLED.

As of right now, the 55-inch model can be purchased on Amazon for $999, about $200 off its usual list price of $1,199.99 but significantly more than its best price to date. The larger 65-inch model is also on sale at Best Buy, where you can pick it up for an all-time low of $1,499.99 ($300 off).

2021 Vizio 4K OLED Smart TV (55-inch)

The 2021 version of Vizio’s 4K OLED TV sports a 120Hz refresh rate and a pair of HDMI 2.1 ports as well as support for Apple’s AirPlay 2, HDR10, and Dolby Vision. It also features Vizio’s SmartCast system and built-in Chromecast.

The best deals on 4K TVs for the PS5 and Xbox Series X

Sony’s PS5 and Microsoft’s Xbox Series X can play 4K games with HDR at up to 120 frames per second. So, naturally, if you don’t have a TV that takes full advantage of your console, it might be time to upgrade to one of the models below. Note that, for the best experience, you’ll want a TV that supports HDMI 2.1.

LG C1 OLED

If you’re looking for an impressive TV, we recommend turning your attention to LG’s C1 line. Like its predecessor, the CX, the 4K C1 touts support for Nvidia G-Sync and AMD Freesync technologies, along with a 120Hz refresh rate and low input lag. The main difference between the two is that the C1 is available in an 83-inch variant and features a better processor. It also utilizes a newer interface that makes good use of a settings pane dubbed “Game Optimizer,” which conveniently brings together a host of game-centric settings — refresh rate, latency, etc. — for quicker access.

Throughout the holidays, we saw the 55-inch C1 selling for around $1,196.99 instead of $1,499.99. The TV’s price has dropped even lower in the time since, and the impressive OLED is now available at a variety of retailers for around $1,097, including Amazon, B&H Photo, Target, and Best Buy. If you want the best deal, however, you’ll want to head to Newegg, where you can pick up the 55-inch model for $1,096.99 with a $50 Visa gift card and a four-year extended warranty. BuyDig is offering a similar deal on the smaller, 48-inch model, selling it with the same warranty and a $50 Visa gift card for $896.99. No matter which retailer you purchase the TV from, you’ll also be able to claim a six-month subscription to Nvidia GeForce Now Priority.

If you prefer a larger TV, discounts are available on other size configurations as well, with many selling at all-time lows. Right now, for instance, you can pick up the 65-inch model at Amazon for $1,596.99 ($903 off), which is its best price to date.

LG C1 OLED (55-inch)

LG’s C1 OLED starts with a 48-inch model, going up to 83 inches. All sizes of this OLED feature a 120Hz refresh rate, FreeSync and G-Sync support, and a fast processor.

Samsung Neo QLED QN90A

For a viable OLED alternative, there’s the Neo QLED QN90A. Unlike the LG models above, Samsung’s 2021 flagship uses Mini LED backlighting, a technology that allows for better contrast, less “blooming” around white objects on a dark background, and brightness levels that outperform even the best OLED TVs. Like the C1, the QN90A is also built with gamers in mind. The 2021 model features an HDMI 2.1 port and a “Game Bar” that gives you the ability to quickly adjust your screen’s aspect ratio, monitor input lag, and check to ensure settings such as HDR and VRR are active, all of which make for a better gaming experience overall.

During Black Friday and Cyber Monday, the 55-inch QN90A sold for just shy of $1,300, however, it’s currently going for $1,199.99 at Best Buy and Samsung. Additionally, you can get a steeper discount if you opt for one of the larger configurations. Best Buy is taking $300 and $600 off the 65- and 75-inch models, for instance, selling them for $1,599.99 and $2,199.99, respectively.

Samsung Neo QLED QN90A (55-inch)

Samsung’s Neo QLEDs were the company’s flagships for 2021, which come outfitted with Mini LED backlighting for improved contrast and brightness that better competes with OLED. They also tout HDMI 2.1 and a new Game Bar with shortcuts for features like VRR and aspect ratio.
